The conferences marking European Day of People with Disabilities are part of the EU’s wider efforts to promote the mainstreaming of disability issues in line with the EU Disability Action Plan 2003-2010 and its successor, the Disability Strategy 2020, to be adopted in November 2010. They stimulate the exchange of information and good practice in areas that are crucial for equal participation in society of people with disabilities, and facilitate networking between key players in the disability policy field. In turn, the conference findings and conclusions feed further EU policy developments.
